——有感于孙超平老师的《商务英语》授课

 

导语安徽工商管理学院秉承合作、创新、严谨、求实的办学理念,致力精耕细作安徽高教改革的试验田,鼓励授课老师结合课程教学创新教学方式,变革教学模式,更新教学内容。来自合肥工业大学教学点的孙超平老师,在反思英语学习的本质和方法以后,提出了五位一体的英语教学体例,创新教学内容;借助移动互联网的平台,创新教学手段;且行且思,坚持撰写每日一句,点燃同学们的学习热情。

  18C2班赵丰丽同学,以真实的感情,细腻的笔触,围绕孙老师的《商务英语》授课,为我们展示了一位勤于思考、乐于分享、善于教学的园丁形象。让我们跟随着赵丰丽同学的行文,感受学院一线授课教师的风采。

 

  根据《商务英语》课程的考核目标,孙老师把课程教学分为4个模块,一是面向课程组共同制定的课本听说教学,二是每日一句的撰写与讲授,三是全员参与的英语爬梯活动(English Party),四是面向“安徽风采”的“徽风皖韵”英文故事大赛活动。

  为了贯彻“日常学习化,学习主旨化,主旨双语化,双语模仿化”的教学设计思路,孙老师每次上课都会分享他本人撰写的每日一句。每日一句的素材广泛——阅读感悟、讲学经历、师生互动、节假出行、班级活动等,都会出现在孙老师的每日一句中。

  1.温情构建授课内容

  2018年10月份的班级文化建设活动,我们18C2班和17C2班联袂开展了班级大讲堂活动,其中我们18C2班由班长金泉主持,邀请了杜俊超、殷雄等同学主讲。孙老师从班级微信群了解到这一活动后,结合主讲人的姓名认真撰写了每日一句,发布在英语学习群供班级同学们学习。为了帮助同学们更好地理解他的每日一句,孙老师还在课堂上进行了热情洋溢的解读。

  孙老师的第一个主题句是“Handsome is as handsome does.(干得漂亮才是真的漂亮)。其中,“Handsome”指的是男性英俊潇洒, “does”是“do(杜)”的第三人称单数。因此,主题句嵌入了主讲人杜俊超的姓名。顿时,同桌的杜同学精气神陡增,没有想到老师还专门为他写了一个每日一句,真是一个大惊喜。

  孙老师的第二个主题句是“Strong is as strong does.”,也就是对第一个主题句进行了仿写,其中蕴含了副班长“贾强”名字中的“强”字,做得强才是真的强,孙老师用闫琳同学的口吻居然把这句话译为“贾哥真强”。台下的贾强同学更是笑得合不拢嘴,老师也是记得我的哟。接着,孙老师更是脑洞大开,带着我们一起重温了各种表扬的形容词“good, nice, super,great, wonderful, awesome, fabulous, terrific, amazing, outstanding, spectacular, brilliant…”,并带着同学们仿词造句。例如,“Super is as super does.”“Nice is as nice does. ”“Heroic is as heroic does. ”系列用于赞美的形容词都被集中运用到这个句型中,课堂的教学氛围顿时变得很温暖,同学们的心情也很愉悦。

  孙老师第三个主题句是“A hero is one who knows how to hang on one  minute longer.(英雄就是比常人更能坚持的人)”,这其实是联系主讲人“殷雄”的名字撰写的主题句。为了帮助同学们记住“hero(英雄)”这个单词,孙老师运用说文解字的方法解释说,“hero”其实就是“her”+“o”构成的。紧接着,他在白板上写下了“Without her,hero is O.”这句话,引得全班同学捧腹大笑。孙教授的用心、用情、专业、敬业、幽默、博学......如一股暖流流入我们的心田。就连平日见到英语就发愁的贾哥也大声嚷着说,我就知道“殷雄如果没有他老婆,其实就是一个熊蛋”。

  孙老师第四个主题句是“To find joy in study is to discover the fountain of youth.(找到了学习的快乐,其实就是找了年轻的源泉)”,寄语我们大家秉承“学乐”心态,把学习当作保鲜剂。当然,更为重要的是,这句话与班长金泉的名字和学习精神高度契合。

  

  2.真情阐释感恩心态

  每年 11 月份第四个星期四,是西方社会的感恩节。感恩节是一个团圆与感恩的日子(a time of togetherness and gratitude),亲人们团聚在一起,共享火鸡和南瓜饼的大餐,蕴含着浓浓的感恩情和深深的感恩意。感恩于一起走过的昨天,感恩于共享和平的今天,感恩于共创愿景的明天(Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.)。每逢感恩节的时候,大家都会发表感恩致词并相互祝福“Happy Thanksgiving!”或“Happy Turkey Day!(火鸡节快乐)” 。

  11月22日星期四,时值2018年的感恩节。在阐释感恩节由来的基础上,孙老师对比了西方的感恩节和东方的四重恩,即“父母恩”,“老师恩”,“国家恩”,和“众生恩”,寄语我们常怀感恩之心,把每个平常的日子都当作感恩节,以“喜乐心”对待每一天的工作,把每次机会都是恩赐与祝福(Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.)。并建议同学们运用句型“I would like to give thanks to somebody for doing something”造句。孙老师第一个造句,他说自己最应该感谢的是同学们,让他在教学过程中不断成长,感受到了教书育人的乐趣。孙老师如是写道“I would like to give thanks to my students for growing up with me.”。随文附上我们18C2班同学的感恩节跟句。

  金  泉:I would like to give thanks to my company for giving me the opportunity to study in AH-MBA and get to know professor SCP and 18C2 classmates.

  王艳晴:I would like to give thanks to my husband for tolerating with my bad temper.

  孙  征:I would like to give thanks to my classmates for going through with me side by side during the journey of life.

  曹满红:I would like to give thanks to AHMBA for providing this platform; I would like to give thanks to professors for teaching us new thinking; I would like to give thanks to my classmates for helping each other; I would like to give thanks to my family for supporting me.

  闫  琳:I would like to give thanks to my teachers and friends for bringing me surprises and help.

  陆  伟:I would like to give thanks to all my relatives, friends and classmates for helping me understand the meaning of happiness, comprehend the true meaning of life.

  李娇娇:I would like to give thanks for my efforts and persistence in the cold winter; I would also like to give thanks to the entire smile I met on my way home in the deep night.

  章  平:I would like to give thanks to my family for bringing me laughter and happiness. I would like to give thanks to all the difficulties and hardships in the life for bringing me the strong will and learning to be grateful.

  卢卓凡:I would like to give thanks to my parents for giving me life; I would like to give thanks to my family for giving me warmth; I would like to give thanks to my teachers for giving me knowledge; I would like to give thanks to my friends for giving me friendship; I would like to give thanks to my classmates for giving me companionship; I would like to give thanks to the company for giving me a platform. Thank you for all!

  叶天宇:I would like to give thanks to my boss for bringing me growth and progress.

  顾  涛:I would like to give thanks to the hard time and difficulties that I have experienced, so that I can understand that a man must be strong and gentle.

  杨莉莉:I would like to give thanks to Zhao Fengli’s encouragement to me! I would like to give thanks to Ding Tong’s encouragement to me! I would like to give thanks to my daughter for making my family happy every day!

  单宇翔:I would like to give thanks to myself. Whatever situation I’m in, I’m strong enough to face it, and I have never escaped.

  关乙姣:I would like to give thanks to my kid for teaching me how to be a mother and making me understand the real meaning of mother love.

  陶新福:First, I would like to give thanks to my family for being healthy, safe and happy; I would like to give thanks to myself for choosing MBA to meet Professor Sun, who is erudite and interesting; I would like to give thanks to many lovely classmates for setting examples to me. You are great treasures in my life.

  赵丰丽:I would like to give thanks to my family for supporting and understanding my work and study.

  汪晓溪:I would like to give thanks to my daughter for giving the warmth of mother’s love.

  丁  童:I would like to give thanks to my parents and my wife for making me a responsible man.

  高清艳:I would like to give thanks to my teachers and classmates for bringing me surprises and joys.

  唐婷婷:I would like to give thanks to those who have helped me in my life for bringing me warmth and growth.

  柯  群:I would like to give thanks to the enterprise simulation contest for bringing me growth and progress.

  张启昭:I would like to give thanks to something what I have had and what I have lost for bringing me memory.

  万劲松:I would like to give thanks to my family for supporting and understanding my work and study.

  孟  岩:I would like to give thanks to my leaders for forgiving my mistakes made due to my carelessness and teaching me how to be a real estate seller.

  杜俊超: I would like to give thanks to my children for giving me a goal worth striving for and the joys of life!

  张爱莲:I would like to give thanks to my loved ones for making my life rich and beautiful!

 

  3. 燃情解读成长思维

  不少同学一直秉持着固定思维,认为自己的英语基础不好,所以学不好。孙老师指出,正是因为英语不够好,所以才有进一步学习的必要。为此,他讲述了牛仔大王李维斯的发家史,西进淘金因为大河挡道而想到了摆渡的好主意,因为摆渡生意清淡淘金场地卖水被驱,万般无奈收集废弃帐篷缝制牛仔的故事。李维斯的发迹,其实就是因为他秉承“太棒了,这样的事情竟然发生在我的身上,又给了我一次成长的机会,凡事的发生必有其因果,必有助于我”的正念正思维,在绝望中寻找希望,从而铸就了辉煌人生。

  孙老师认为,我们最需要学习的,其实就是坚毅力的品质,即从困惑中找原因,不轻言“不懂(I don’t understand.)”,而是“思考忽略了什么因素 (What am I missing ?)”;不轻言“放弃(I give up.)”,而是“尝试一下其他方法(I’ll use the strategies I’ve learned.)”;只有更好没有最好(Is this really my best work?);上课时不轻易说“Sorry”,而是尽可能将听懂的内容,即使是某个单词也好,表达出来,然后课后在寻找答案,把课堂引导和课后自学有机地结合起来,学习才能不断上新台阶。孙老师最后指出,积极的行动和积极的思考相互促进,最终会引领我们走向成功(Success is where positive action and positive thinking meet.)。快乐,其实就是痛苦的释然。他祝福我们树立正思维,采取正行动,写就无憾的人生。

 

  4.痴情教学初心不改

  同学们都觉得孙老师的记忆力好,能够在短短几节课就能够记住全班同学的名字。孙老师总是很坦诚地说,自己现在的记忆力其实并不好,之所以能够记得住班级同学的名字,主要原因是因为自己是面向对象授课的。在课堂上,他会及时关注每个同学的状况;同时他还向记单词一样归类记忆同学的姓名。例如,名字有叠字的,唐婷婷,李娇娇;再如,名字有特色的,单宇翔。为什么说这个名字有特色呢?孙老师解释说,16C2的教学助理姓“单”,班长的名字叫“宇翔”,我们班的“单宇翔”同学其实就是一个集大成者;第三,来自同一地方的,如“罗卓凡”、“王宗平”和“孟岩”同学都来自安徽的北方门户“亳州”,孙老师把他们戏称为“亳州三宝”。第四,形象记忆。例如,我坐在“赵峰”同学的后面一排,名字比他多了一个“丽”字,孙老师就这样记住了我们俩的名字,还经常开玩笑地说,“赵丰丽比赵峰坐得远,所以在表现形式上名字也相应地要长一些”。有时候,孙老师还赋予同学签名以故事。例如,单宇翔同学的签名是“小钥匙”,孙老师赋予的故事是,一把坚实的大锁挂在大门上,一根铁杆费了九牛二虎之力,还是无法将它撬开。小钥匙来了,它苗条的身躯钻进锁孔,只轻轻一转,那大锁就“啪”的一声被打开了。铁杆奇怪地问:“为什么我费了那么大力气也打不开,而你却轻而易举地就把它打开了呢?”小钥匙说:“因为我最了解他的心。”好智慧的故事,好暖心的记忆。

亳州三宝与分不清的清艳和艳晴

  有时候,孙老师也会把同学的名字记混淆。例如,他开学之初总会把王艳晴和高清艳的名字记混。高清艳同学研究生阶段就读合肥工业大学外国语学院,师从林玉鹏教授,孙老师也很认这个师妹。当高高流露这责备的眼神时,孙老师总是会调侃自己说,“高高,之所以会混淆你俩的名字,是因为我一直觉得你和艳晴一样年轻”。高高也只好说,“好吧,相信你了”。

  有时候,我们也会问,“孙老师,在教学上花这么多时间到底值不值?”孙老师笑笑说,“爱挑的担子不嫌累。在英语专业毕业生不太愿留校的年代,我就主动签约留校任教。”在破格执教AH-MBA之际,孙老师运用交叉学科的知识背景,从小故事大道理的角度串讲阅读理解,把每篇英文短文都当成一则又一则的管理故事。正是因为他的善于思考勤于写作,孙老师才把对我们来说枯燥寡味的英语课上得有声有色,赢得了诸多的好评和尊敬。

 

  5.激情点燃学生热情

  孙老师总有一种特别的气场,让每个同学都能找到自我的存在;孙老师总有一双关注的慧眼,觉察到每个同学身上的闪光点;孙老师总有一种体贴的情怀,充分照顾到每个同学的课堂情绪;孙老师总有一种亲和的力量,让课堂充满了欢声笑语;孙老师总是释放出足够的善意,不厌其烦地纠正同学们的读音;孙老师总是能够体现一种悉心的关爱,给每个同学在课堂上展现自我的机会。

  孙老师尝试着运用文学的语言讲授着语言外壳下的历史、地理、政治、经济,乃至人生理念。置身孙老师的课堂,我们仿佛在穿越时空;听孙老师授课,我们仿佛是在品读文化;与孙老师交流,其实就是在砥砺思想,体验学乐精神;与孙老师偕行,其实就是在感悟人生,直面学习生活压力。
